Washington DC Residential Lease

You know how when you move to a new city, after a while you forget to take advantage of all the best things that place has to offer? As a native of Washington, DC, I have a few recommendations for new arrivals of some places to visit and things to do now, before you become one of those people who takes it all for granted!  To start with, first things first.  In order to seal the deal on your new place, fill out  your Washington DC Residential Lease  – also known as a GCAAR (Greater Capital Area Association of Realtors) Lease –  online with PDFfiller With the time you save you on your DC rental form, you can start exploring!

There are a lot of great art museums in DC, and many of them are free.  But if you want to see a small, special collection and don’t mind the $12 cost of entry, The Phillips Collection on 21st St. is one place I always love to come back to.  The galleries spaces are intimate and you don’t have to fight the hordes to see masterpieces of French impressionism and American modernism. Spend some time in the Rothko room to quiet your mind after the chaos of the move.

The National Arboretum may be tricky to get to, but it is one of the best places to visit to experience DCs four seasons.  See the Arboretum’s website for the fall workshops, full moon hikes, and for best times to watch the trees at the National Bonsai and Penjing Museum change into their fall colors.  Alternatively, take a walk along the Chesapeake & Ohio Canal, a national historic park that has an interesting history dating back to the 18th century. It runs 184.5 miles along the north bank of the Potomac River, starting in Georgetown and ending in Cumberland, Maryland.

Lastly, for a short time longer in August you can enjoy the summertime Jazz in the Garden Series at the National Gallery of Art.  The free concert series features jazz artists performing a wide variety of styles—salsa, blues fusion, xylophone, Afrofunk, and more—every Friday evening from 5:00 to 8:30 in the National Gallery of Art Sculpture Garden.  It is the perfect place to mingle with your new neighbors.
